Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is something I am intimately familiar with, as I myself suffered from it for years.

Asian medicine (Chinese herbs, acupuncture, Qi Gong and Shiatsu) along with life style changes, were the keys that helped me turn the corner on this disease.

I was in acupuncture school when I learned that I had CFS, experiencing unstable energy levels, extreme sensitivity to stressors, chemical sensitivities, rapid temperature changes, etc. Every day I had pain in my muscles and tendons and intermittently in just about every other part of my body.

Luckily, I was in school with healers all around and I was fortunate enough to get a clinical rotation in a chronic fatigue clinic at Harbourview Hospital, the public hospital in Seattle, where I got my training. I saw how much improvement most of the patients experienced from the acupuncture and I learned what worked and what didn’t.

I now pass this knowledge on to you in my clinic, helping you make improvements in your condition too!

Fibromyalgia

Often linked to CFS, Fibromyalgia (FMS) is a condition that also responds well to Asian medical treatments. Patients often experience immediate lessening of symptoms which may be long lasting and possibly resolve completely with regular treatment.

Like auto immune diseases, FMS can “go into remission” or spontaneously resolve with the right help along with exercise, relaxation and stress-reduction measures all of which I can offer you in the form of Treatment with Asian medicine, lifestyle and wellness coaching and nutritional advice.

Immune Regulation

One of my favourite things to treat, Auto Immune disorders (A.I.) are incredibly fascinating to me. I have also had personal experience with a mild form of A.I. which occurred during a very high stress period of life in my early 20s.

I got debilitating joint pain, shortness of breath and tunnel vision for a period of several weeks and found that I had ANA in my blood, which signified a general auto immune response. On further investigation, no diagnosable “disease” was found. I had to drop out of school for a semester and figure out what had caused the reaction in my blood. Why was I attacking myself?

This is the question I find so interesting.

What causes us to attack ourselves to the point that our own immune system, which is so perfectly designed to repel foreign material, gets confused enough to no longer recognise Self as Self?

I have developed many ways to get to the bottom of this question working with Qi, thereby balancing the body and the mind, and it often yields amazing results.
